Making a good cake that will appeal not only to you but also to your family and friends is not as simple as it may seem. Several factors are necessary so that the dough will be fluffy and you can then use it for various pies and pastries.

The right dough is the foundation of a good cake

The basic ingredients for this dough include:

  • 1 kg of flour
  • 1 egg
  • A pinch of salt
  • 0.5 liter of lukewarm water

Making the dough is not complicated, but you must follow the procedure so that the dough turns out as it should. First, let the flour rest at room temperature and then sift it into a deeper bowl. In the flour make a well and add the egg that you have beaten beforehand.

Pour a little water in by hand and keep kneading the dough, but have flour at hand in case you need to add some. From this amount you will make a large cake or several smaller ones. Watch the dough; it should never be too hard.

Then take the dough out of the bowl and mix it on the work surface. By adding flour you will get a dough that does not stick, and that completes it. Divide the dough evenly into three equal parts. Knead each one again separately and let them rest for 10 minutes, then mix again.

Fat is important to prevent cracking

The dough should stand at room temperature for about an hour. Pour oil into a pan on the stove and make sure it reaches a maximum temperature of around 30 degrees. It is important to oil your hands with warm oil after each stretching of the dough, because otherwise the dough may crack, and it should gradually become very thin. You can then use the dough in any way.

You can make, for example, spirals by rolling the dough into thin strips and rolling them up. You can sprinkle them with sugar, nuts, or decorate with other treats. You can also make a classic sheet cake by placing various types of fruit on the whole tray, then sprinkle it with streusel and bake it. It depends on what you can do; always use fresh fruit if possible. When baking, also rely on your experience with your oven, as each one may bake differently and you need to watch the dough while baking, for example by inserting a skewer into it.
