We have already written several times on our site about the effects of apple cider vinegar. Today we will focus on its use in addressing skin problems on the face. Several scientific studies have provided evidence of how apple cider vinegar effectively treats, for example, eczema and many other skin conditions. Its most useful properties include: the beta-carotene content supports and regenerates cells; the potassium content treats allergies and regulates the skin’s pH; the content of other minerals and vitamins such as iron, magnesium, sodium, potassium, sulfur, calcium and phosphorus control eczema and strengthen immunity; the content of lactic and acetic acids acts strongly antibacterial and antifungal, reduces inflammation and itching, smooths the skin and prevents infections; it binds and flushes toxic substances from the body and the skin. Applying apple cider vinegar to the skin therefore provides several health benefits, resulting in more beautiful, healthier and younger-looking skin.
Effects of apple cider vinegar on the skin
Before we discuss the effects of apple cider vinegar, it is important to remind you that it should never be applied to the skin undiluted. Because it is a fairly strong acid, to avoid skin irritation it must always be diluted with water at least in a 1:1 ratio, or even more (more water, less vinegar). Now let’s take a closer look at its effects on the skin:
Treats acne, blemishes and pimples Apple cider vinegar offers the same or even better results than many expensive commercial cosmetic products and creams. It contains malic acid, which has strong antibacterial, antimycotic and antiviral effects. In this way it effectively prevents the formation of pimples and acne.
2. Detoxifies the skin Apple cider vinegar removes many toxins from the skin. Regular application to the facial skin will leave it clean and radiant.
3. Reduces the appearance of pigmentation and age spots If you regularly wash your face every day with apple cider vinegar, the visibility of your pigmented or age spots will noticeably decrease. It contains acids that remove old dead skin cells and improve the health of other cells. Take a cotton pad with a little solution of apple cider vinegar and water, apply it directly to the spot and leave it on for a while. Then rinse the area with water. Do this twice a day for a month and a half and you will be pleasantly surprised by the result.
4. Removes wrinkles Similar to treating spots, regular application of apple cider vinegar also helps remove and reduce wrinkles. Again, put a little of the diluted vinegar solution on a cotton pad and apply it directly to the wrinkles for a few minutes. After application, wash your face with lukewarm water.
5. Balances the skin’s pH Apple cider vinegar removes excess oil from the skin and balances its pH. By doing so it regulates sebum production so the skin will be neither too dry nor too oily. Regular use will support balanced and good-looking facial skin.
Ways to apply and use apple cider vinegar
Finally, let’s mention a few ways to properly use apple cider vinegar in skin care. A. Apple cider vinegar diluted with water As we have already mentioned, apple cider vinegar has strong antibacterial and antiviral effects. To make use of these, however, it must be diluted with water so that its acid content does not irritate the skin.
You will need:
- 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
- 1 glass (200 ml) of clean water
- 3 cotton pads
Procedure: In a small bowl mix the vinegar with the water. Using cotton pads, apply it to the eczema. Repeat the procedure until the eczema is healed. In case of very sensitive skin dilute only 1 teaspoon of vinegar in 100 ml of water.
B. Oral use of apple cider vinegar
Oral use of apple cider vinegar will prevent the return of eczema and strengthen your immune system. Of course, it should be consumed in diluted form.
You will need:
- 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
- 1 glass (200 ml) of water
Procedure: Stir the teaspoon of vinegar into the water and drink the mixture. Repeat this 2 to 3 times a day until the eczema or facial rashes disappear. C. Bath with apple cider vinegar For treating skin problems not only on the face but on the whole body, a bath with apple cider vinegar is extremely effective.
You will need:
- 1/2 glass (100 ml) of apple cider vinegar
- a bathtub full of water
Instructions: Stir the apple cider vinegar into a bath of lukewarm to warm water and soak for approximately 15 minutes. If you wish, you can add a few tablespoons of coconut oil to the bath to improve the scent and enhance the effects. After the bath apply a moisturizing cream to the skin. For this purpose you can also use softened coconut oil. Repeat the procedure daily until you are completely free of eczema. D. Apple cider vinegar and honey Honey is another excellent remedy for various skin conditions because it reduces inflammation and soothes irritated skin. It also has antibacterial effects. For treating eczema, its combination with apple cider vinegar is ideal.
You will need:
- 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 1 glass (200 ml) of water
Procedure: Mix the honey with the vinegar and then dilute it in a glass of lukewarm water. Stir well and drink the contents of the glass. Take this 2 to 3 times a day.
