Are you troubled by corns that won’t disappear? Use the power of nature and try a simple homemade remedy with a plant you may already have at home or in the garden – the rock rose, also called houseleek. This plant, which can be easily grown outdoors and indoors, not only has disinfectant effects but also helps greatly in fighting various skin problems.
How the rock rose works on corns
A corn is a hard and painful skin growth that most often forms in areas exposed to frequent pressure, especially on the feet. If the pain makes walking difficult, a natural remedy in the form of houseleek comes into play. The leaves of the houseleek are full of healing sap that can reduce inflammation and disinfect. Simply break off a piece of the leaf, place it on the affected area and cover it with a plaster so it stays well on the corn. Repeat this procedure ideally three times a day, and within a few days the problem should be gone. Houseleek also helps with warts, which usually peel off on their own after regular application.
Homemade houseleek ointment for other skin problems
You can also use houseleek to make an ointment that is suitable for various minor burns, scars or bruises. Prepare the ointment as follows:
- Grind the houseleek leaves using a meat grinder to create a thick mixture.
- Mix with pork lard and heat over low heat until the excess juice from the houseleek evaporates.
- Store the ointment in the refrigerator and use as needed to treat the skin.
Growing houseleek: an undemanding plant even for beginners
Houseleek is an ideal plant for those who don’t have much time or experience with gardening. It’s really not demanding to grow. It only needs a sunny position and drier conditions; it is resistant to heat and frost. If you don’t have a garden, a flowerpot or a balcony box will suffice.
Another tip: apple cider vinegar for warts
For faster removal of warts you can try undiluted apple cider vinegar. Due to its effects it can slightly damage the skin and gradually remove the wart. But be careful, vinegar is quite strong and should be applied cautiously so as not to damage healthy skin.
