Make a delicious delicacy from a few ingredients according to the well-known chef Michael Smith. The recipe is very simple, quick to prepare, and above all filling. So if you no longer know what to cook for lunch or dinner, try this hearty treat. We are sure that you and your entire family will enjoy it.
You will need
- Bacon strips 300 grams
- Potatoes 8 pieces – large
- Gouda 200 grams
- Baking paper
- Olive oil, a few drops
- Salt
- Pepper
Preparing the cookware
First prepare the dish in which you will bake. We recommend using a pan with a diameter of approximately 22 centimeters. If you have a smaller or larger pan, use it, but also adjust the amount of ingredients accordingly. Put baking paper on the bottom of the pan and brush it with a few drops of olive oil. Peel the potatoes and wash them. Now it’s time to get to the most important part.
Layering
Place bacon slices on the baking paper in the pan, one slice next to another. Cut the washed potatoes into thin slices and then place them on the prepared bacon. Salt, pepper or otherwise season the potatoes and sprinkle them with cheese. Continue in the same way – potato slices, cheese, potatoes, cheese… Once the potatoes reach the level of the edge, add at least two more layers and try to stack the potatoes into “a pyramid”. The top layer must be potatoes. Once you have it stacked, drape the overhanging bacon over the potatoes. Bacon tends to crisp and then peel away, so we recommend placing a small lid on top to help the whole retain its shape while baking. Use a fully metal lid. Place the pan prepared this way with the ingredients on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 190 °C for two and a half hours. Really don’t forget to place the pan on a baking sheet, otherwise your oven will get completely dirty from dripping fat. We wish you a good appetite and believe you will enjoy it just as much as your family members.
