Houseleek or rock rose. Today it is most often a mute ornament of rockeries and once people cultivated it on house roofs.
It spread very quickly and People believed that the house would be protected from lightning and fire – this especially thanks to leaves full of pulp. Few, however, know that this little plant is even more medicinal than the famous Aloe Vera. In addition, it is very easy to care for (just like other succulents) and to propagate – after a while it sends out side rosettes, which only need to be torn off and planted into separate pots.
Put it on the balcony and in the kitchen
You won’t regret it, every leaf of this little plant is full of healing substances and moreover it is also a great addition to salads – just wash, chop and it will give your food a pleasant tangy taste . You can eat the leaves and young shoots even plain, in the Netherlands it is a popular delicacy.
A miracle for the skin
While with Aloe Vera an allergic reaction may may occur, with this plant you do not have to worry about that. The leaf pulp heals minor cuts, abrasions, insect bites, but also skin inflammations, burns, cold sores and warts. Just tear off a leaf and apply the pulp to the skin.
