Everyone today waves around terms like healthy diet, healthy food, or healthy eating. Nowadays that means something completely different than before. It wasn’t so long ago that any food that wasn’t spoiled, or that we didn’t consume in too large an amount at once, was considered healthy.

Watch out for chemicals

Today, however, in shops we find products and foods that are mere substitutes for what could be bought just a few years ago. Bread isn’t bread, juice isn’t juice and cheese has nothing to do with real, honest cheese. You’ve probably already heard that truly healthy are only

  • unprocessed foods
  • foods that grow in nature

For example, fruit and vegetables should, according to most experts, be 100% healthy. The problem is that large growers and producers can spoil even what should benefit us. Come do a small apple test with us.

Eat truly healthy fruit

Although Mother Nature equipped this juicy fruit with a natural protection that prevents water loss and protects it from parasite attacks – the peel – growers still aren’t satisfied. To extend shelf life and improve the appearance of the crop, they treat them chemically. Apples are therefore covered with wax from Brazilian palms or a substance called shellac, which is made from insect excrement. Both of these ingredients are used in making wax for cars or floors. Do you really want to eat this? We have good news for you. It can be removed.

Now try with us to check whether your apple is really as healthy as they claim in the store. We’ll detect the presence of wax simply. Dip the apples for a moment into boiling water. Remove them and pat them dry. Now gently sprinkle the apples with baking soda. Then squeeze lemon juice onto them. Finally wash in warm water. You remove the wax best with the help of a brush.

Don’t forget that a quality apple doesn’t mean beautifully shiny and colorful. Sometimes it’s true that the uglier the apple, the healthier it is. That means you won’t find any chemicals on it. That usually applies to all crops. Also try to find out where they come from. Are they from distant exotic regions? Then there is a greater chance that they have been treated with aggressive chemicals. Be careful about what you eat. Some chemicals can directly endanger your health. Eat only what benefits you.
