Many of you probably don’t like garlic very much because of its unpleasant smell and the taste it leaves in your mouth. You may even shed a few tears occasionally when eating it.

However, if you consider its health benefits, a bit of smell shouldn’t bother you that much.

But you must make sure you use garlic correctly. Otherwise you won’t take advantage of some of its most significant medicinal effects.

1. Consuming garlic in tablet form.

Garlic tablets seem like a good solution for the unpleasant smell and taste, but they are not a very effective way to consume garlic.

Raw garlic is the best choice for fully gaining the medicinal power of this gift of nature. Tablets do provide some effect, but it is much smaller than with raw garlic.

Whenever you have trouble with its taste, try to think about its health effects and overcome your aversion.

2. Cooked garlic
Cooked garlic is the most common form in which people consume it, because it gives dishes a good flavor.

Unfortunately, cooking degrades allicin, one of the most important substances in garlic.

The only way to activate allicin and get the most of its potential is to crush garlic and eat it fresh.

3. Destroying bad and good bacteria
Garlic is a strong antibiotic, which means that when consumed in large quantities it can have a negative effect on your gut microflora and kill beneficial bacteria too.

The best way to prevent that is to combine garlic with probiotics.

Good options to combine with are kombucha or miso, because they contain large amounts of probiotic bacteria.

4. Old garlic

Old garlic is not as strong as fresh. The way to distinguish old garlic from fresh is fairly simple.

Also remember that it is better to use garlic from organic farming.

5. Small amounts of garlic

You need more than just one small clove to use the full medicinal power of garlic. Garlic is a potent immunity booster only when consumed in larger amounts.

According to experts, 2 to 3 medium-sized cloves per day is sufficient.

Some people have confirmed that the stated amount of garlic helped them overcome even aggressive forms of infection in a short time.

A few extra tips
As we have already mentioned, fresh and raw garlic is best for taking advantage of its health benefits.

However, if raw garlic really bothers you badly, try crushing it and letting it sit for 10 to 15 minutes (during which the released enzyme creates allicin).

Then add apple or another sauce for better taste.

You can mix it with honey. That is, for example, my favorite form of consuming garlic.
