When a young woman began to notice a tiny spot on her face, at first she didn’t attach any special significance to it. After all, everyone has skin imperfections. But after a while it started to bother her and she decided to visit a doctor. He indeed confirmed that the small inconspicuous spot was cancerous in nature.
Small and inconspicuous spot
Many people go to the doctor only when it is truly a significant problem and a skin melanoma is clearly a nasty cluster of dark cells. But sometimes the cancerous growth can be smaller and yet potentially dangerous. That was exactly the case of a 24-year-old woman who noticed a small pearly, slightly raised dot on her face. At first glance the problem was barely visible, but when you know your own face you immediately notice what has newly appeared.
Timely surgery
Fortunately the young woman addressed her problem in time. She visited a doctor who diagnosed a stage 1 carcinoma. Surgery was subsequently performed, during which all layers of skin affected by the cancerous growth were removed. Fortunately the wound healed nicely and the woman has no problems, mainly thanks to the timely and correct diagnosis.
How to recognize skin cancer?
- Different coloring compared to the surrounding skin
- Raised spot
- Sudden changes to a mole
Regularly check your moles and skin
Skin cancer is very common. The cause is unprotected exposure to ultraviolet radiation, which is becoming increasingly strong due to a thinner ozone layer. Human skin is not prepared for this and radiation causes mutations that lead to cancerous growth. This can be benign and affect only a single small spot on the skin. Much worse, however, is when the cancer does not stop and grows inward into the body, which can be life-threatening. Yet often it is enough to use a protective sunscreen and carefully monitor your skin.
