When 31-year-old Megan Moss Johnson’s long-awaited daughter was born, it was a true blessing for her and her husband, musician Nathan Johnson.
Megan’s illness
Megan had, before her wedding and pregnancy, undergone a heart transplant at age 23 because of her illness, which fortunately was successful.
Megan suffered from myocarditis, which later led to the so-called inflammation of the heart.
Fortunately, after the transplant all of this was a thing of the past, but she still had to continue to attend regular check-ups, and when she and her husband found out she was pregnant, doctors began to worry about her heart
Death after childbirth
On June 27, 2017 Megan gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Kate and although it seemed that everything was proceeding as it should, the opposite was true.
Just eight hours after the birth, Megan’s heart stopped beating and she died in her sleep.
For her husband and family it was an enormous tragedy
Megan, however, had anticipated this scenario and before the birth agreed to have her organs donated.
She saved over 50 lives
“Her organs saved more than 50 lives,” said her attending physician.
Unfortunately Nathan was left to raise his daughter alone, but he is trying to be the best father he can for her.
At the same time he continues to spread his wife’s legacy and is trying, through his music and a fundraiser, to help sick people who cannot afford expensive treatment.
