My mother-in-law told me about this idea and I recommend it to everyone. You might not believe how well toothpaste can be used for purposes other than brushing your teeth. If you are one of those people who need a fresh scent in the toilet and invest in various toilet fresheners, pay attention. This trick will save you a lot of money.

Take an ordinary menthol toothpaste (feel free to go for the cheapest) and make a few holes in the tube with a thicker needle.

Then put it into the flush tank and flush. During flushing the paste will gradually release from the tube and the toilet will smell pleasant because of it. One tube of toothpaste will last you up to 3 months with this use. Which is much longer than ordinary toilet fresheners.

Other uses of toothpaste

Revives your silver

If dark spots have appeared on your silver jewelry, you don’t need any special products to remove them. All you need is ordinary toothpaste and a soft toothbrush. Apply to the surface, rub gently and wipe off. They will be like new.

No more foggy headlights

Take toothpaste – ideally the whitening kind – put it on a sponge and spread it over the entire surface of the headlights. You’ll see the difference as soon as you wipe off the paste.

Keys on an old piano

Yellowed keys on an old piano can again shine bright white. Carefully rub them with a soft cloth over the surface. It works great!

Scorched iron

First try to remove as much of the burnt area as possible while it’s still warm (for example with a spatula). Then put toothpaste on a dry cloth and, using circular motions, go over the burnt surface of the iron. This method works great on stainless surfaces and if the burn isn’t an old stubborn one. Then simply wash the remaining paste off under cold water.

On a scratched display

Yes, a small amount of toothpaste can really help remove minor scratches. However, make sure you have regular toothpaste at home and not gels or tooth-cleaning products.

Apply a small amount of paste to the damaged spot and, with a cotton swab or a microfiber cloth, rub the paste over these areas in circular motions until the scratches are no longer visible. Then remove the remaining paste from the display with a clean swab or a damp cloth and you should see the difference immediately.

White soles on sneakers

Even after months of use the soles can look beautiful again and will shine. Apply toothpaste to the white surface and spread it over the entire area (ideally using a toothbrush) then wipe it off with a clean cloth.

Fogging of diving goggles

Before you go into the water, simply rub their lenses with toothpaste. An invisible protective layer will form on the surface that will prevent fogging on your next dive.

Rings from glasses on wooden furniture

You can remove them easily with toothpaste. Apply, rub and remove the paste with a clean cloth. The rings will be gone.

Ink stains

Did they appear, for example, on a freshly washed shirt? Before you throw it back into the washing machine, apply toothpaste to the spot and try to clean it as much as possible with the paste. Then wipe with a damp cloth and wash as usual.

Insect bites disappear overnight

Annoying insect bites won’t leave any red mark on your skin. As soon as possible, apply toothpaste to the bite. By morning the red spots will be gone. In addition, the paste will prevent the spot from itching, burning and otherwise making your life unpleasant.

Rash on the face

The paste works the same on facial rashes. The paste dries them out and they disappear faster.

Removes odors from thermoses

Just pour hot water into the thermos, add toothpaste, close and shake a few times. The smell will disappear and you can use the thermos again.
