Summer is knocking on the door and doctors recommend that we begin to pay attention to animal-derived products, which we can also use as prevention against diseases and to fight infections. One of these products is fresh bacon!
Benefits of bacon
The fat from bacon contains a large amount of vitamins A, D, E and carotene. It helps keep the immune system fully functional and improves the overall functioning of the body, especially in this cold season.
There are many legends about the dangers of bacon that often scare people who enjoy this product. Today we will take on this issue and uncover all the myths.
1. Fat causes weight gain and obesity
That’s not entirely true: fat, like other products, has a negative effect on the human body only in excessive amounts. For healthy people who do not suffer from problems with the digestive tract, liver, or pancreas, this fat will be beneficial. The daily dose of fresh bacon for a healthy person ranges between 10-30 g per day.
2. Bacon – a very heavy food
The opposite is true: in healthy people it does not cause digestive problems. Bacon is incredibly beneficial for the body because it melts at our body temperature. It is not suitable for people who suffer from problems with bile production.
3. Bacon – firm consistency
Who says that’s bad? Subcutaneous fat has a unique structure that is rich in the rare arachidonic acids. This substance is essential for our body because it is part of our immune system and is also necessary for cholesterol metabolism.
4. It contains a large amount of cholesterol
As with other animal products, bacon also contains cholesterol. Its amount is not as enormous as you might think. In 100 g of fresh bacon there is 70-100 mg of cholesterol. For comparison – 100 g of beef kidneys contain 1,126 mg of cholesterol.
Doctors have long confirmed the fact that the amount of cholesterol in the blood and tissues does not depend on how much bacon you consume.
Much more important is the metabolism of cholesterol. The body must take in as many useful substances as possible and process them correctly. The acids contained in the fat – linoleic and arachidonic acid – help with that.
5. Bread + bacon = a dangerous combination
This combination tastes good and does not harm our body at all. Both products will not cause any harm, provided that the person is healthy. For those trying to lose weight, bacon will serve as an excellent source of energy. Bacon with vegetables is the best choice!
