Coca-Cola has long been and still is a daily-discussed topic. People constantly talk about its ingredients and the negative effects it has on our body. One could say that this is already a generally known fact, which, however, does not deter everyone from consuming this drink. Scientists have now come up with a new demonstration of what this drink does to our body. They even explained it on a timeline.

Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola is a drink that many of us really like and many people drink it practically every day. But most people do not realize at all what such a soda can do to the human body. Anyone who wants to indulge in this drink should read what Coca-Cola can do inside the human body. Maybe, once you find out what it can do, you’ll rethink it and prefer to drink water, which will help your body unlike Coca-Cola.

The first ten minutes

When you drink one can, which represents 330 ml, you introduce exactly 10 sugar cubes into your body. That represents about the entire recommended daily dose of sugar. If you were to just eat that amount of sugar, you would probably vomit. In this case, phosphoric acid prevents that.

Twenty minutes

Blood sugar levels rise rapidly. The liver automatically converts it into fat.

Forty minutes

At this stage the absorption of caffeine is complete. For this reason your pupils dilate, and blood pressure begins to rise. Adenosine receptors in the brain are thus blocked, which causes you not to feel sleepy.

Forty-five minutes

Dopamine production increases, thereby stimulating pleasure in the brain. This effect is similar to that of heroin use.

Sixty minutes

The aforementioned phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium, and zinc in the intestines and further boosts your metabolism. Later you will feel the diuretic effect of caffeine. The difference is that you also excrete calcium, magnesium, and zinc, which under normal circumstances should be directed to your bones.

Conclusion

When it all wears off, the condition caused by the overdose will begin to fully manifest. You will probably become irritable and slowed down at the same time and you will get a craving for another cola. All the water that the cola contained should by now have been excreted in urine. Which means that the drink that should have quenched your thirst did the exact opposite.
