Even a layperson can tell that something is wrong with these lungs. Experts from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) published X-ray images of patients who died from the coronavirus, and it’s not a pleasant sight. The lungs are full of white spots — the so-called ground-glass density, where air spaces become partially filled. This then causes severe breathing difficulties.

The new type of coronavirus that is afflicting the whole world has even reached pandemic status. The course of the Covid-19 illness it causes is variable.

Some people have only mild symptoms, while others suffer severe respiratory problems accompanied by lung pain.

American scientists have mapped exactly how the more severe form of the coronavirus affects the lungs. They even published X-rays of patients who died from the coronavirus.

You don’t have to be a doctor to recognize that something is wrong with the lungs in the picture. They are covered with a large number of white spots of various sizes. These are by no means a natural occurrence.

This is the so-called ground-glass density.

Air spaces in the lungs become filled, which then causes infected patients to suffer acute respiratory distress, lung pain, and other problems.

The X-ray shown above belongs to a 54-year-old Chinese patient who contracted the coronavirus at a market. Despite intensive treatment, he died after a week.

The same phenomenon is observed in other patients as well. For example, this X-ray belongs to a 54-year-old woman who, after returning from the Chinese epicenter of the outbreak in Wuhan, suffered fever, a severe cough, fatigue, and chest tightness.
The white spots on the X-ray also increase on the lungs as the disease progresses. The condition of untreated patients therefore deteriorates significantly.
