Breathing

You can give yourself first aid simply by inhaling the scent of the leaves. You can keep leaves on hand at all times or place them on the pillow where you sleep. You can put a few leaves into a container and place it on the heating, which will allow the substances from the leaves to be released into the air in the apartment.

Syrup for colds and runny noses

  • Sealable glass jar
  • 50 larger rhizomes – the more, the better
  • Granulated sugar (depending on the size of the jar and the amount of leaves approx. 759 g to 1 kg)
  • Lemon / Orange / Lime

How to do it?

Gently rinse the leaves in water and cut them into equal pieces so that as much liquid as possible is released. Wash the lemon, lime, or orange and cut it into slices including the peel. Put everything into the container and add the rest of the ingredients until the container is full.
After half a month you should see that the sugar is breaking down; if necessary, you can gently mix it. At the moment when the substance in the jar is completely liquid, strain it through a cloth and squeeze well. Keep it in the jar. The syrup does not irritate the stomach, clears the sinuses, and is amazingly effective for the throat.
Take a teaspoon 3 times a day. Feel free to add the syrup to tea, yogurt or cereal.

Ointment

  • 20-30 leaves of a medium rhizome
  • 200 g of fat (balm or coconut fat is best)

How to do it?

Heat the fat and add the fresh leaves. Maintain a stable temperature and let it infuse for approximately two hours. Stir regularly. At this point place it in a safe place, let it cool and store it in the refrigerator for 24 hours. The following day heat again. Let cool and, while still lukewarm, place into a container. Store in a cool place.
Use as an oil on the chest for bronchial problems and on the feet when dealing with colds. The ointment is also suitable for skin injuries or dry skin.
