These are seeds that people often use to feed birds, which is why they are sometimes called bird seeds or canary seeds.

However, their nutritional composition is so exceptional that they can also be used in the treatment of several serious human diseases such as diabetes, liver cirrhosis, inflammations of the kidneys or the pancreas.

Their official name is canary grass , or in Latin Phalaris canariensis .

They contain a high proportion of amino acids and enzymes that are extremely important for the human body.

Nutritional composition of canary grass seeds

Experts report that these seeds have a high content of the enzyme lipase, which is very beneficial for digestion.

It is an enzyme that breaks down fats so they can be absorbed more quickly in the intestines into the bloodstream.

This enzyme is also highly valuable to the body because it excellently reduces symptoms of poor digestion and celiac disease.

In addition, the proteins contained in canary grass seeds are very easily digestible and beneficial for the human body because they are a high-quality type of protein.

In addition, they also have a high content of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, plant proteins and healthy fats.

Health benefits of canary grass seeds

Canary grass seeds effectively slow down signs of the aging process, for example by tightening the skin and reducing the visibility of wrinkles.

Most valuable, however, is their ability to suppress pancreatic inflammations, which are known by the medical name pancreatitis.

It is also shown that they excellently control diabetes by regulating blood glucose levels. They can even sometimes completely cure diabetes.

They are most often used for inflammations and degenerative diseases of internal organs such as the liver, kidneys and the aforementioned pancreas.

In cases of liver cirrhosis they increase the number of hepatocytes in it, reduce its volume and kickstart its rapid regeneration.

In addition to the above, they also help with the following conditions:

  • arteriosclerosis
  • gout
  • rheumatism
  • swelling of the limbs
  • gastritis and stomach ulcers
  • high blood pressure
  • high blood cholesterol levels
  • obesity and cellulite
  • diseases and cysts of the urinary bladder
  • urinary tract infections

How to use canary grass seeds

The seeds must be crushed into a powder before consumption. You can use either a poppy-seed or pepper grinder or mechanical crushing for this.

Take 3 to 5 tablespoons of the powder, mix with a glass of clean water and drink it.

Another option is to pour 250 ml of water into a blender, add the seed powder and blend until a milk-like liquid begins to form. Then add another 250 ml of water and continue blending for a while.

You can also make the milk by soaking the powder in water and letting it sit overnight. In the morning strain the liquid through cheesecloth or a cloth and the milk is ready.

Drink the prepared milk in the morning before breakfast and in the evening at least an hour before dinner.

You can also add canary grass seed powder to other raw or cooked dishes. However, more beneficial nutrients are preserved in the raw state.
