Nature itself is rich in many powerful health benefits. Many of us do not realize the presence of numerous potent plants that are capable of helping with health conditions, some of which are even present in every garden. When you think about leukemia, you know how terrible a condition it is. Patients contend with chemotherapy, medications, poor quality of life, and general misery. Dandelion root can be very beneficial for this disease; it can help a person who is battling insidious leukemia.
Dandelion’s relationship to leukemia
Recent studies show that this plant is cytotoxic to 3 types of cells that cause leukemia and kills up to 96% of them after just 48 hours. According to oncologist Caroline Hamm, the effect of dandelion on leukemia was tested on an elderly patient who suffered from myelomonocytic leukemia, which is one of the most aggressive forms of leukemia.
During chemotherapy the patient made no progress
So at the hospital they offered him the option to start a natural therapy that included dandelion root tea. By drinking only dandelion root tea the patient showed significant improvement and refused to continue chemotherapy. Dandelion tea works by affecting cancerous cells, which break down within 48 hours and stimulate the growth of new healthy cells in the patient’s body.
Dr. Hamm contacted Siyarama Pandey, a biochemist at the University of Windsor, who with his students conducted a study in which they took blood cells from nine different patients. The patients consumed dandelion root extract. Pandey claimed that within 24 hours the cancer cell was killed in a very selective way and the healthy cells remained alive.
Properties of dandelion root
According to many studies, dandelion extract contains many active compounds that fight melanoma, leukemia, as well as breast and prostate cancer. This is not a surprising fact, as dandelion root extract has been used for centuries as an effective treatment method in traditional folk medicine.
