In summer it is common to consume fruit, alcohol and sweets. Stains from them easily soak into a sofa or carpet so that you cannot get them out. You then have three options. Live with a spotted sofa, buy a new one, or try one simple method that will clean practically everything. A big advantage is that you don’t need anything expensive for it and you can easily find everything in a shop.
All the necessary ingredients
First of all you should prepare the products you will be working with directly. By that we mean protective gloves, a spray bottle, a clean brush and a clean cloth. Once you have this ready, you can go to the store and get a few things from which you will then create a natural cleaning mixture that will remove even the biggest and most stubborn stains. You need:
- 500 ml of water,
- 140 ml of alcohol,
- 100 ml of vinegar,
- 40 grams of baking soda and one tablespoon of fabric softener.
Simple application
Preparation is of course very simple. Mix all the above ingredients together in a bottle — water, alcohol, vinegar, baking soda and a little fabric softener. You don’t need much of it. Shake everything well and spray it on the stain. You don’t need to soak the upholstery too much beforehand. Let the mixture work for a while and then start working with the brush. You may have to work for a while, but try not to press too hard so you don’t wear through the fabric. Nothing would help you then.
The moment you see the stain starting to lift, wipe it with a clean cloth. You will see that the spot will come off almost by itself. Wait until the area is thoroughly dry and the sofa or carpet will be back to its original condition. It’s a great, simple and above all cheap way to restore faded and damaged fabrics that you would otherwise have to throw away or pay a lot of money to professionals to clean. You can do this yourself, in five minutes and almost for free.
