There are many ways to remove ants from the garden. One of the simplest methods is to get rid of ants with ordinary laundry soap and ammonia – this strong smell is unbearable for pests.
Ant spray
We will need:
- 72% laundry soap (1/2 bar)
- 100 ml ammonia (10%)
- 15-liter container of water
How to do it?
We grate the soap on a coarse grater, pour hot water over it and let it dissolve. As you can see, foam appears on the surface.
Then add the ammonia, stir and use for spraying. Use early in the morning or in the evening, never in direct sunlight.

Mixture for the roots
If you need to remove ants from plants and thereby remove aphids, the best solution is to use this mixture: dissolve 10 ml of ammonia in 10 liters of water (use a 10% aqueous solution). It will be not only a great tool against ants, but also an excellent nitrogen-containing fertilizer. Even better is to add three tablespoons of sugar to this mixture and water the plants directly at the roots or completely spray the entire plant with the liquid.
Measure: To prevent the occurrence of ants in the garden or in the apartment, you can add one tablespoon of ammonia to a larger bucket of water every 14 days and water the plants in the garden. The smell of even such a small amount is enough to deter unwelcome guests.
How to get rid of ants in the apartment
Occasional cleaning of windowsills or doorframes with an ammonia solution (for 10 liters of water, 1 teaspoon of ammonia is enough – if you have a current problem with ants, use 1 tablespoon of ammonia). Or seal openings, especially windows and doors. With a little effort you can deal with ants without having to spray the whole house with chemicals.
