Poultry meat is low in fat, rich in protein and is generally considered healthier than, for example, pork. It is easy to prepare and there are many ways to cook it. So try making this excellent recipe from ground chicken. You’ll see that you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the result. And what will you need?

  • 500 g ground chicken
  • 2–3 slices of wheat bread
  • 1 onion
  • 2 raw and 2 boiled eggs
  • 200 ml milk
  • half a cup of flour
  • 100 g hard grated cheese (e.g., Edam)
  • 20 g butter
  • a pinch of baking soda
  • dill or parsley
  • salt
  • pepper.

First, let the bread soak for a while in 100 ml of milk so it absorbs the liquid. Then grind it together with the chopped onion in a meat grinder.

The right seasoning is key

Thoroughly mix the ground meat with salt and pepper to taste. Then combine it with the ground bread you prepared and let it rest for a while. Cut the boiled eggs into pieces, mix them with the grated cheese and butter and add the herbs. This mixture will serve as the filling, so set it aside in a bowl.

Then simply beat the raw eggs with the remaining milk, add the flour, a pinch of baking soda and a little salt and pepper. Take a piece of the ground meat mixture, shape it into a patty, place some of the raw filling in the middle and cover it with more meat mixture. If you wish, you can also form meatballs. Then coat the meat in the egg-and-milk batter and fry in vegetable oil until cooked through.

You can cut out any shapes

This recipe is great as a Sunday lunch or dinner for the whole family. Chicken appeals to children too, and if you really want to have fun with it, you can cut various shapes for them using cookie cutters. If you make smaller shapes, you can leave them as bite-sized appetizers. If you make larger patties or balls from the meat, serve them with potatoes, mashed potatoes or rice.
