In countries around the world the popular quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire has been broadcast for many years, which also enjoyed great popularity in Slovakia. On Markíza it was hosted from 2000 to 2006 by presenter Martin Nikodým, however with a change of channel and main face it began to decline in popularity, as a result of which it eventually disappeared from the screens.
Millionaire
Ask the audience, 50:50 or phone a friend! Even these lifelines are remembered by viewers years later of the quiz show Millionaire, which offered contestants the chance to earn fantastic amounts of money.
While the show is long passé in Slovakia, in the USA it enjoys great popularity.
Host Jimmy Kimmel here, besides celebrity guests who play for charitable purposes, also welcomes healthcare personnel.
Which question he failed on
Into the seat, among others, sat therapist JD Barton, who failed for a Slovak on an absolutely bizarre question.
For half a million dollars he had to answer in which language the word “Yes” means “Ano”.
He had four options to choose from: Czech, Korean, Arabic and Portuguese.
His reaction
Since he did not know the correct answer, and not even the host could advise him, the contestant decided to end the game.
“It’s a big win and I’ll make full use of it for myself and my family, I won’t risk it,” he said after taking home an amount of approximately 200 thousand euros.
However, after he withdrew from the competition, he still guessed answer A, which turned out to be correct.
