If you're wondering what to “feed” your strawberries to keep them healthy, we have a great tip for you.
This is how you ensure a bountiful harvest even without expensive fertilizers.
A bountiful harvest, however, is not everything; with this feeding you will extend the fruiting period, the strawberries will gain more strength and will thus provide you with juicy fruits for even longer.
Soured milk
Products made from soured milk — such as buttermilk — are beneficial for fruit development. Fermented dairy products are recommended to be mixed with humus, manure and wood ash — this mixture helps create a slightly acidic environment ideal for the growth and development of the fruits. If you pour a milk-and-water solution into a spray bottle and spray it on the strawberries, you can forget about aphids and mites.
The milk solution prolongs the fruiting period
You can also prepare a nourishing milk solution with iodine. Just mix these ingredients and your strawberries will thank you.
We need:
- 1 liter of milk
- 10 liters of water
- 10 drops of iodine
- 4 g of boric acid
Procedure:
Mix all the ingredients and water the strawberries with the prepared solution. The reward will be a bountiful harvest of sweet strawberries.
