You’ve surely heard about the practices of large food chains and meat producers who soak meat with antibiotics or dyes to make it look fresh. Sometimes they even use this to mask already spoiled meat. How can you tell?

We all try to take care of our health. When you think about it, it’s the most valuable thing we have. You will surely agree with us that one of the most important factors is proper nutrition. And that’s why we carefully choose in the store so that only quality foods end up on our table. Meat is an important food that our body needs. It supplies the nutrients our body requires to function as it should. However, finding quality meat is becoming increasingly difficult.

How to choose meat

The biggest problem when choosing meat is that it is very often soaked in antibiotics or other chemical agents. Using medicine to treat animals by farmers is understandable, but the mistake is that they also dope animals that are completely healthy with these substances. This applies to both cattle and poultry. But why do farmers do this?

  • thanks to antibiotics, animals are able to survive even in the worst conditions
  • growth and gain of muscle mass are accelerated

Not only chickens are kept in dreadful conditions. Breeders give them medicines so they can survive those conditions, and at the same time they accelerate the animals’ growth many times over, increasing their profit and lowering costs. It’s therefore just cold calculation.

In the store, choose only meat that is not wet and sticky. Fresh, quality pork should be pale pink; beef, lamb and veal should be pink to dark red. Meat full of drugs looks as if it has no definite shape. Healthy meat, on the other hand, is firm and holds its shape. So choose a meat product that is firm.

Do a small test in the shop. Gently press the meat and see whether it returns to its original shape. If it remains „flattened“, don’t take it. Also, blood should not run from it. You may think it doesn’t matter that much. But you’d be wrong!

How antibiotics in meat affect humans

Even the tiniest dose of antibiotics can trigger a strong and dangerous allergic reaction in a person. Moreover, if you frequently consume meat soaked with antibiotics, you will reduce the effectiveness of antibiotics in your body and impair your resistance to various insidious viruses and bacteria. Bad meat is a threat to your immunity. If meat contains a larger dose of antibiotics, you’re asking for trouble.

It literally disrupts the balance of the microflora found in your intestines. That directly affects not only your physical health. Scientists have shown that the gut microflora is directly connected to the central nervous system, and therefore to your brain. Moreover, it is the center of the immune system. So it’s in your interest to be careful when buying meat products.
