If you are wondering what to “feed” your strawberries to keep them healthy, we have a great tip for you.

This is how you ensure a bountiful harvest even without expensive fertilizers.

A bountiful harvest, however, is not everything; with this feeding you will extend the fruiting period, the strawberries will gain more strength and will thus bring you juicy fruits for even longer.

Soured milk

Products from soured milk — such as buttermilk — are beneficial for fruit development. Fermented dairy products are recommended to be mixed with humus, manure and wood ash — this mixture helps create a slightly acidic environment ideal for the growth and development of fruits. If you pour a solution of milk and water into a spray bottle and spray it on the strawberries, you can forget about aphids and mites.

The milk solution prolongs the fruiting period

You can also prepare a nutritious milk solution with iodine. Just mix these ingredients and your strawberries will thank you.

You will need:

  • 1 liter of milk
  • 10 liters of water
  • 10 drops of iodine
  • 4 g of boric acid

Instructions:

Mix all the ingredients and apply the prepared solution to the strawberries. In return you will be rewarded with a bountiful harvest of sweet strawberries.
