Today ( 18.2.2021) an extraordinary session took place in the Czech Republic, where the Chamber adopted a new law. It is a pandemic law,
which will allow the Ministry of Health to make decisions to close the majority of shops and services across the entire Czech Republic. For this, these decisions will no longer require a state of emergency, as has been the case until now. Our Government agreed on the wording of the entire pandemic law with the opposition.
Next Friday the state of emergency here should end, despite the fact that experts and politicians are turning a blind eye to this.
According to the numbers of infected people and the number of deaths, it is not advisable.
Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and the Government agreed on this law, even with the majority of the opposition parties.
132 deputies from all parties voted for this law, except for deputies from the SPD party, who are under the wings of Tomio Okamura. Some members of the KSČM abstained from voting.
What does this mean for entrepreneurs who have their shops or offer their services to other citizens of this state? There will be compensation, which, according to everything, should reimburse companies and individuals for the real damage that was caused by these measures. Of course, people and companies will have to have evidence of everything and prove it in order to be entitled to compensation.
Now the usual procedure will follow. The bill and its wording must be reviewed by the Senate and if that upper chamber approves it and President Miloš Zeman signs it, it could come into force next week.
The Ministry of Health will therefore have control both nationally and regionally. It can restrict specific events, public places, the operation of shops and services, and so on.
