Jasmine tea has been used since ancient times for its calming properties and its ability to balance emotional imbalance. This tea is effective in the fight against insomnia and acts as a natural sedative, releasing stress and improving mood. It increases libido, and therefore is also used as an aphrodisiac. With regular use it helps relieve menstrual cramps.

Used in the form of oils and tea

Essential aromatic oils are also used. They are used to treat depression, muscle stiffness, headaches and stress, as well as to relieve respiratory problems or sore throats. In aromatherapy the scent of jasmine is used to evoke feelings of love, improve mood, increase self-confidence and stimulate the senses. It releases tension and restlessness.

Jasmine tea activates blood circulation and at the same time effectively cleanses the body. It alleviates skin problems, regulates the body’s energy, and maintains a stable body temperature on cold and hot days. But these are not the only remarkable effects that the jasmine flower can offer. It is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine as a remedy for many ailments.

Treats sore knees

It is used, for example, to treat sore knees. According to Chinese medicine the knee is connected with the kidneys and the liver and their respective energy channels. Depletion of kidney energy or overwork of the liver weakens the knees. If you suffer from pain, sit comfortably in a chair and gently massage the knees with your middle fingers on both sides of the kneecap at the same time.

After the massage apply to the knees a warm mixture prepared from two tablespoons of olive oil, half a teaspoon of ground garlic and five finely chopped jasmine flowers. First mix the ingredients thoroughly and then heat slightly. Apply the still-warm mixture to both knees and leave it on for at least thirty minutes. If you repeat this procedure every day, the knee pain will soon disappear.

For weight loss and diabetes

Jasmine flowers can also be used successfully for weight loss. Simply boil ten jasmine flowers and one cinnamon stick in half a liter of water for about ten minutes. Divide the decoction into three portions. Drink three times a day before meals. The antioxidants contained in jasmine tea kick-start and speed up the metabolism and thus increase the effectiveness of exercise. As a result, losing weight will also become easier.

Jasmine normalizes insulin production and optimizes blood circulation. Just drink one cup of jasmine tea every morning without any flavorings or sweeteners. In people suffering from diabetes it reduces the negative impacts of the disease; in healthy people it works as prevention. The tea helps the body get rid of harmful substances and free radicals that can cause weakening of the immune system. It owes this to substances called catechins, which are the main antioxidants found in jasmine.

Supports memory

Jasmine improves memory. Bring two cups of water to a boil, add five jasmine flowers and a sprig of rosemary and simmer for one minute on the stove with a lid on. Then remove the infusion from the heat and sweeten to taste with honey. Drink this beverage three times a week, ideally morning and evening. It will help especially students during exam periods, helping them remember more information.

Jasmine acts as a prevention against stomach cancer. Drinking jasmine tea every day supports blood circulation and helps reduce cholesterol levels. Drinking jasmine tea contributes to maintaining a healthy stomach, aids digestion and supports healthy bowel function. With regular consumption overall immune system function improves.

How to prepare tea?

Quality jasmine tea is characterized by retaining its aroma and flavor even when prepared in multiple infusions. Traditionally jasmine tea is prepared in a three-part tea bowl or in another lidded vessel. Two teaspoons are steeped in 400 ml of hot water at 90–95 °C, for green jasmine teas the temperature can be lower. First pour water to about one third of the bowl, let it sit for a moment, pour the second third, again let it sit for a moment and then fill the bowl with the remaining water. It is brewed for two to three minutes.
