A stroke is a treacherous disease that, according to some, can strike completely without warning. In most cases, however, a stroke manifests beforehand, although it’s true that some signs can be very inconspicuous. Sometimes, before the arrival of „main“ stroke several smaller strokes occur, which may not be very noticeable to us. Or you attribute its symptoms to another condition. What’s unpleasant about this disease is also that it affects people of any age.

Blurred vision

The onset of a stroke can manifest with vision problems. Typical is blurred vision or even a short-term loss of sight. It can affect one or both eyes. About 44 % of people who have had a stroke experienced this symptom, so it’s definitely worth noticing.

Sudden headache

Headache and dizziness are symptoms of the onset of a stroke especially in women younger than 45. If you experience this condition, it’s appropriate to visit your doctor. He or she may come up with a suitable method of treatment that could help prevent a stroke.

Problems with understanding

You are talking to another person and suddenly you feel that you do not understand at all what they are saying. This leads to confusion. It is also a very good sign of how to recognize that the other person is at risk of a stroke.

Loss of balance

Another symptom can be loss of balance, which can cause difficulties with walking. A sudden feeling of weakness and lethargy in the upper and lower limbs can be a possible sign of a stroke. This can lead to paralysis or collapse. It is good to share these conditions with a doctor or with someone who is near you.

Paralysis

Paralysis is also a completely common symptom of a stroke. This condition requires medical help – call emergency services immediately. That you are affected by this kind of paralysis can be recognized by spreading your arms wide, palms up, and holding them there for 10 seconds. If you cannot keep one of the arms in this position, your muscles are probably too weak.

Pain on one side of the face

This pain on one side of the face or a sudden pain in the limbs can be a symptom of an impending stroke. It’s good to contact medical help as soon as possible.

Facial paralysis

This is one of the most common symptoms of a stroke and usually one side of the face is paralyzed.

Fatigue

Studies have shown that women, unlike men, often experience symptoms such as fatigue, confusion and disorientation. These are all clear signs of a stroke.
