You’ve probably heard that Coca-Cola is not just a fizzy drink with caffeine. Cola has surprisingly many uses. With its help, for example, you can perfectly clean a toilet bowl, remove stains from clothing, and it can even be used in the garden to repel slugs. The list of uses is really very long — one might even wonder whether it’s safe to drink. But you have probably not yet heard of one use. Coca-Cola is allegedly able to make hair wavy. It works, but don’t expect miracles
Yes, Coca-Cola does, to some extent, make hair wavy and curly, but if you naturally have hair as straight as a board, don’t expect to have lamb-like ringlets after applying Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola gently waves the hair and rather “brings out” their natural curls. In other words, it’s a great trick for girls and women with naturally curly hair.
How is that possible?
Coca-Cola contains phosphoric acid. That means it has a very low pH level (classic Coca-Cola has a pH of 2.5). So you apply a liquid with an acidic pH to your hair. Its action causes hair follicles to shrink and the result is shiny and smooth hair. So if you have naturally curly hair, thanks to Coca-Cola your curls will look more defined. They will be beautifully smooth and soft. Some even claim that due to the high sugar content your hair will also be stronger. However, this claim is more someone’s subjective experience, so don’t rely on it.
How to do it?
The procedure is as follows:
- You need Coca-Cola — it can even be flat. The bubbles have no effect on the final result, so feel free to use flat Coke from a party
- Rinse your hair with Coca-Cola and leave it on for 5 – 10 minutes
- Then wash your hair as usual and don’t forget to use shampoo! Cola contains a lot of sugar, so your hair would be sticky
