To bring our desserts to perfection, often all we need is richly fluffy whipped cream. I don’t mean the store-bought spray whipped cream, but the real, freshly whipped cream. It will elevate even an apparently ordinary ice cream sundae, pancakes or a bowl of fruit to the next level.

Use a mason jar

Maybe the thought of whipping cream puts you off because of the awkward mixer that makes a racket and sends whipped cream flying around the kitchen, you included. Maybe you’re at the cottage, camping or with friends on a picnic and simply don’t have a mixer on hand. We have good news for you. Homemade whipped cream with a silky texture can be made quickly and easily without a mixer and without dirty dishes. All you need is an ordinary mason jar.

How to

You don’t need a mixer or a whisk to make whipped cream. You can easily do it with an ordinary mason jar. This simple method consists of pouring whipping cream into a mason jar and shaking until the cream thickens into whipped cream. You will need the following ingredients:

  • A mason jar with a lid — you can use any jar that fits comfortably in your hand and has a tightly fitting lid.
  • 1 package of whipping cream (the fattier, the better).
  • 2-3 teaspoons granulated sugar – you can also use powdered sugar; the amount depends on your taste

Method: fill the jar halfway with whipping cream and add the sugar. Close it and make sure the lid is tightened well (you certainly don’t want to spray the whole kitchen). Shake the jar thoroughly until you hear the liquid turning into foam. This can take several minutes. Open the lid and taste. If the whipped cream is ready to your liking, you can start decorating desserts, improve your cup of coffee or enjoy the whipped cream straight from the jar with a spoon.

Small tip: if your arm hurts from shaking the jar, call the kids to help. They have energy to spare, especially when a delicious dessert is in front of them. It’s fun for them, and you’ll enjoy the shared moments.
