You won’t find a household where they don’t have bags, molds or ice trays in the freezer. They can be used in many different ways; we’ll give you a few tips that will come in handy and save you time.
You can freeze sauces, syrups and desserts
You can easily freeze your favorite sauces and there are countless ways to use them. You can even mix sauces together. Just pour them into an ice cube tray.
There are plenty of dessert recipes that can be made in ice cube molds. For example, you can make mini cottage cheese tarts with raspberries, covered in chocolate. If an unexpected guest surprises you, reach into the freezer and the treats are ready!
You can also freeze alcohol. If you have leftover cooking wine, there’s nothing easier than pouring it into molds instead of water. You can use it in sauces.
Syrups will come in handy as a topping for ice cream or a frozen dessert. As with sauces, their uses are varied.
Fresh herbs or iced coffee for hot days
You can easily grow herbs on a windowsill or balcony. You can also easily freeze them. You can use either water or, even better, good-quality olive oil, which preserves herbal aroma and freshness. You can use mint in various drinks and freeze it with lemon juice. Mint also soothes your skin wonderfully; just massage your skin with a mint ice cube for about three minutes. Other foods suitable for freezing are:
- Coffee, which cools you down wonderfully on hot days
- Various types of fruit, strawberries are ideal. You’ll mainly use the fruit in smoothies
- Eggs can stay fresh for up to a year when frozen
- Try throwing flowers into the freezer as well; they will then decorate your drinks
Freezing food is the gentlest preservation method. Ingredients lose very little of their nutritional value. What’s more, you just need to take them out, let them thaw at room temperature, and how you use them is up to you.
