A quick look at the ingredients will convince you that anyone can make the cake. Besides, you’ll find all the ingredients in every household. You need 250 grams of flour, 100 grams of butter, 100 ml of milk, 15 grams of yeast (you can replace it with roughly two teaspoons of dried yeast), 2 eggs and a pinch of salt.

Quick cake from homemade ingredients

Heat the milk to room temperature and let it stand. Add sugar and yeast to it and stir carefully until they form a base for the dough. Let this mixture rest for 20 minutes on a radiator or in another warm place. Meanwhile, in a large bowl mix the butter, eggs and salt. Add the mixed yeast with sugar to this mixture and stir everything well.

Dust this dough base with 250 grams of flour and mix thoroughly. Work the mixture by hand or use a kitchen mixer. This will incorporate air into the dough and make it soft and tender. Place the dough into a bowl, cover with a cloth and let it rise for an hour.

While your dough is rising, prepare the topping. For it you need these simple ingredients:

  • 50 g butter
  • 150 g sugar
  • 200 ml whipping cream

Mix everything carefully together so that the sugar dissolves as much as possible. Not all of the sugar will dissolve in the cream, but that’s fine. The remaining sugar crystals will caramelize in the oven during baking and create a sweet crust on the cake.

A sweet experience you’ll certainly repeat

Preheat the oven to 180 °C and prepare a baking tray and grease it with butter. If you want the cake to be a bit lighter, use baking paper instead of butter. Pour the risen dough onto the tray and make about 20 holes in it with your finger, depending on how large your tray is.

Place the tray with the dough in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes. After taking it out of the oven, pour the mixture of cream, sugar and butter over the dough and return it to the oven for another 10 minutes. Your guest will be licking their lips. Enjoy your meal.
