Dental tartar is the result of the work of bacteria and food residues in the oral cavity. It can over time lead to inflammation of the gums or even periodontitis.

Tartar most often forms from soft, pasty, or sticky foods that are rich in carbohydrates. Examples include bread, sweets, cookies, or candies.

Avoiding it is relatively difficult, so today we will show you a few natural remedies that can remove it from your teeth.

They are an excellent alternative for people who do not want to go to the dentist for dental hygiene – whether because they do not like it or because they want to save money.

Each of the methods listed here is highly effective. You can choose the one that suits you best. Alternatively, choose a combination of several if, for some reason, one of them does not work well for you.

And here are the promised natural remedies for removing dental tartar:

1. Nut shells and water

You will need the following ingredients:

  • 30 grams of nut shells
  • 2 dcl of water

Bring the water to a boil, add the nut shells and simmer them for 15 minutes. Then let the water cool.

Pour a little of the liquid into a cup, dip your toothbrush into it and brush your teeth with it.

Repeat this 3 times a day (morning, noon and evening) until you are completely satisfied with the result.

2. Sunflower seeds and lime flowers

You will need these ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of sunflower seeds
  • 4 teaspoons of lime blossoms
  • 2.5 dcl of water

Pour boiling water over the sunflower seeds and lime blossoms, let them steep for 30 minutes and finally strain the liquid.

Use this decoction to rinse your teeth after every meal, every day, until the tartar is gone.

3. Apple cider vinegar and water

Dilute apple cider vinegar with water in a ratio of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water. Rinse your mouth with this mixture for a few seconds and then gently clean your teeth with a toothbrush.

However, vinegar contains acids that can damage tooth enamel. Therefore use this method only occasionally and be careful when brushing your teeth so as not to harm the enamel.

4. Wormwood and wine

You will need:

  • 3 tablespoons of the herb wormwood
  • 4 dcl of fermented wine (basically any, preferably white wine)

Place the wormwood in a container, pour the wine over it and cover the container with a lid. Let it steep for 2 hours, then strain the wine.

Use this liquid to rinse your teeth several times a day.
