Preparation procedure
- Preparing the starter: Make a starter from some of the lukewarm milk, the yeast, a little sugar and flour. Let it rise (about 10 minutes).
- Preparing the dough: In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, egg yolks, melted butter, lemon zest, salt and the risen starter. Add milk as needed until a soft dough forms. The dough must not be too stiff. Cover with a cloth and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Shaping the frgáls: Divide the risen dough into 4 equal parts. Roll each part into a round sheet about 0.5 cm thick and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Filling and crumble: Spread each frgál with the prepared filling of your choice (plum jam, poppy seed, quark, etc.). Sprinkle with the crumble, which you prepare from flour, sugar, vanilla pudding and melted butter.
- Baking: Let the frgáls rise for another 10–15 minutes. Then put them into a preheated oven and bake at 180 °C for about 20–25 minutes, until golden.
- Finishing: While still hot, drizzle the frgáls with melted butter mixed with rum and let cool.
