If you’re looking for a quick no-bake dessert that looks luxurious and tastes even better, you’re in the right place. These wafer slices can literally be prepared in a few minutes, without an oven and without a complicated process. They still look festive, hold their shape beautifully and their taste is reminiscent of the beloved griliášky. They’re ideal as a treat for guests, no-bake Christmas cookies or a quick sweet finish with coffee.

Preparation procedure

  • Cream the butter until smooth. Add the condensed milk, cocoa, vanilla and optionally the rum. Mix everything thoroughly to form a smooth, dense cream without lumps.
  • Fold the ground nuts into the finished cream. The mixture should be easy to spread but firm enough to hold between the wafers.
  • Place the first wafer on a flat surface and spread a thin, even layer of cream on it. Continue alternating wafers and cream until you use all the ingredients. The last layer should be a wafer without cream.
  • Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or carefully in the microwave. Pour it over the top wafer and spread evenly.
  • Place the finished wafer slices in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight. The wafers will soften, the cream will set, and the slices will cut nicely.
  • Before serving, cut into even slices with a sharp knife. For a clean cut I recommend warming the knife in hot water and drying it.
