  • Cooking the beets and eggs: Cook the red beets until tender (this takes approximately 30–40 minutes, depending on the size of the beets) and let them cool. Meanwhile, also boil the eggs until hard-boiled.
  • Preparation of ingredients: Peel the cooled beets and cut them into small cubes. Also cut the eggs, pickled cucumber and hard cheese into equally sized cubes. Blend or coarsely chop the walnuts.
  • Mixing the salad: Place all the chopped ingredients into a medium-sized bowl. Add the mustard, mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly so the flavors combine.
  • Serving: Serve the salad immediately or let it rest in the refrigerator for a while to allow the flavors to meld.
