It is precisely the simplicity and honest flavor that make this dessert a staple of home baking.

The quark Himalayan cake has been baked in Czech households for decades. Its charm lies in the delicate quark layer complemented by moist cocoa batter. It is suitable not only for weekend baking but also as a quick dessert with coffee or tea. Moreover, it tastes great fresh and often even better the next day, when the flavors meld beautifully.

Preparation procedure

  • In a bowl mix the sugar with the eggs, add the milk and oil. Then stir in the all-purpose flour mixed with the baking powder and cocoa. Work into a smooth, slightly thinner batter.
  • Put the quark into another bowl, add the eggs and beat them in with a whisk or mixer. Sprinkle in the sugar and vanilla sugar and mix everything thoroughly into a smooth cream.
  • Grease a baking tray with fat and dust with flour, or line with baking paper. Pour in half of the cocoa batter and spread the quark filling evenly. Finally pour over the remaining batter.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 170 °C for approximately 35–40 minutes. After baking, let the cake cool and before serving sprinkle it with powdered sugar.
