These whipped-cream slices with coffee ladyfingers are a delicious creamy dessert that combines a light sponge base, a rich whipped cream, and a pronounced coffee flavor. If you enjoy sponge-based desserts, also try the refreshing strawberry tiramisu with quark and Raffaello or the quick mousse dessert in the style of tiramisu, which, like this recipe, combines ladyfingers with a fresh cream and can be prepared without complicated baking. This dessert, however, additionally offers a strong coffee aroma and a texture that will win over any lover of delicate pastries.

Preparation procedure

  • Whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form. In another bowl, whisk the yolks with the sugar until light and foamy. Pour in the oil and fold in the flour mixed with the baking powder. Finally, gently fold in the beaten egg whites.
  • Spread the batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 20–25 minutes, until the base is lightly golden. Let cool completely.
  • Whip the cream until stiff. Briefly beat the spreadable butter with the powdered sugar, then gently combine it with the whipped cream. You will get a smooth and firm cream.
  • Spread half of the cream over the cooled base. Briefly dip the ladyfingers into the cooled coffee and arrange them snugly next to each other on the cream. Then spread the remaining cream and smooth the surface.
  • Dust the surface with sifted cocoa. Chill the dessert in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, ideally overnight, so the ladyfingers soften and the flavors meld perfectly.

Tips for the best result

  • Dip the ladyfingers into the coffee only very briefly so they don’t become soggy

  • For a more pronounced flavor, you can add a small amount of rum or almond liqueur to the coffee

  • The dessert is best the next day, when it reaches the ideal consistency
