Preparation procedure

  • Dough preparation Pour the water into a saucepan, add the butter, sugar and salt and bring to a boil. Stir in the flour all at once and mix vigorously until the dough pulls away from the sides. Let it cool slightly and gradually work in the eggs.
  • Baking the layers Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Divide the dough into two portions, spread them onto two baking trays lined with parchment paper and bake each sheet for 20–25 minutes until golden. Do not open the oven during baking!
  • Cream From the milk, pudding powder and sugar, cook a thick pudding. Let it cool. Beat the butter with the powdered sugar and gradually beat in the cooled pudding.
  • Assembling the cake Spread all the cream over the first layer of dough and cover with the second layer. Press lightly and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Serving Before serving, dust the cake with powdered sugar and cut with a sharp knife.
