This recipe for wonderful cinnamon rolls will save you when an uncontrollable craving for something sweet strikes, but you have nothing on hand. You don’t even need an oven for it, as it is prepared in the microwave. Just mix the ingredients, roll out, spread, and place the finished rolls into ceramic mugs. In the microwave they will rise nicely and become fluffy. The dough is great with milk or water, so it can also be suitable for vegetarians. Prepare the following:

  • 9 tablespoons of wheat flour
  • 0.75 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 5 tablespoons of water or milk
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of sunflower oil
  • 0.75 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt

The dough must be pliable

Mix the flour with the baking powder and a pinch of salt. Add water or milk and mix well until a smooth, firm, and pliable dough forms. Add less water or milk at first so the dough is not too sticky, and add more as needed. Take half of the dough and roll it out into a strip about 10 centimeters long.

Sprinkle it with cinnamon

In a bowl mix the sugar with the cinnamon, sprinkle the strip with it, roll it into a coil and place it into a mug that you have previously greased with sunflower oil. Roll the second half the same way and put it into another mug. Place the finished cinnamon rolls into the microwave and heat for about 45–70 seconds at maximum power. Then remove them from the microwave and turn the mug upside down over a plate; the roll should slide out by itself.

The last thing you should prepare is the glaze. The simplest recipe says to mix icing sugar with a little water or milk, but you can also prepare a slightly more complex one. Whisk together the icing sugar, a pinch of salt, milk, melted butter, and maple syrup in a bowl with a whisk. The glaze should be smooth, thick, but still pourable. If it isn’t running, add more milk. Pour the glaze over the rolls immediately after baking, while they are hot.
