What ingredients do you need for a refreshing summer salad?
Before you start making the salad, get:
- chicken breasts: 300 grams
- salad cucumbers: 300 grams
- hard cheese of your preference: 150 grams
- salt: to taste
- ground pepper: to taste
- bay leaf: 1 piece
- peppercorns: 3 to 4 pcs
For the dressing you need:
- sour cream: 100 grams
- full-fat mustard: 1 to 1 and ½ teaspoons
How to prepare a refreshing summer salad?
Start by washing the chicken and placing it into a small pot with water, a bay leaf and peppercorns. You can also salt the liquid to taste. Boil the chicken breasts until tender. Then remove them and let them drain in a bowl. Next, wash the salad cucumbers (you can peel them if you like) and cut them into small cubes. Put the vegetables into a large bowl and mix them with cubes of hard cheese (you can choose between gouda, Edam or cheddar).
Finishing the salad and serving it
Finally, add the cooked chicken breasts cut into pieces to the salad cucumbers and cheese and mix thoroughly with salt, ground pepper, sour cream and full-fat mustard. Before serving, let the salad chill in the refrigerator for a few minutes. A toasted wholegrain baguette would go well with it. Enjoy your meal!
How can the salad be seasoned?
If you prefer spicier tastes, you can incorporate a chili pepper or ground or dried chili into the salad. Fresh herbs also stand out nicely, such as cilantro, dill, basil, parsley, lovage, thyme or oregano. Instead of sour cream, you can also use mayonnaise or plain yogurt for the dressing. There are several possibilities. Just choose what you like.
