Almost everyone likes a piece of sweet pastry with afternoon coffee or tea. In the article you will find a recipe that will satisfy your sweet cravings and won’t stop at just one piece.
You won’t need special ingredients to prepare the cake
To bake a delicious, tender and juicy cake you will need:
- 1 glass of flour
- 1 glass
- 1 cup of kefir
- 1 not-full glass of sugar
- 100 g of butter
- 2 eggs
- 0.5 teaspoon of baking soda
First pour the semolina into the cup of kefir, mix well and let it sit for about 40 minutes. Then add the eggs, sugar and softened butter at room temperature to the kefir. Mix everything well; if you have a mixer, definitely use it — it will make the job easier.
Then add the flour and the soda. The kefir already provides the acid needed for the proper reaction of the batter. Stir so the batter isn’t lumpy. Put the prepared batter into a 22 cm diameter pan. Place the cake into a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 35–40 minutes.
Check the finished batter with a skewer or toothpick
You’ll know the cake is baked when you poke it with a toothpick or skewer. Insert the skewer in the middle and if it comes out dry, it means the cake is done. Let it cool in the pan, then remove and dust with powdered sugar. And you’ll have a beautifully soft and tasty cake ready!
Of course, instead of powdered sugar you can use, for example, fruit to decorate the cake. You can also use chopped almonds or other types of nuts. Chocolate lovers can sprinkle the cake with flakes of good chocolate or enjoy great coconut, which you can buy prepared or grate at home.
You can also add fruit to the batter to taste. If you use bananas, be careful that the resulting base isn’t too sweet. Reduce the sugar according to the number of bananas. Strawberries, peaches, cherries or plums also work well. On top of the cake you can also try homemade whipped cream or let chocolate melt over it.
