Red watermelon is a fantastic refreshment in summer. However, everyone especially prefers the sweet red parts, and the closer you cut to the flesh, the less sweet the watermelon is. Often not only the rinds but also pieces of flesh end up in the trash. From now on, however, do not throw away such pieces and try this instead.

Watermelon-orange jam

We need:

  • 600 g of watermelon flesh
  • 500 g sugar
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 oranges

Instructions:

Scoop out the watermelon flesh up to the rind and cut into small pieces.

Sprinkle with sugar, add the lemon juice, mix, cover with plastic wrap and leave overnight in the refrigerator.

The next day, put the watermelon flesh along with its juice into a pot and add two oranges, cut into smaller pieces.

Simmer under a lid at low heat for 45 minutes.

Blend with an immersion blender.

Let cool. Pour into a bowl and the jam is ready. If you want it to be thicker, you can use the Gelfix product according to the instructions. Serve, for example, with fresh croissants. Enjoy!
