Whether in the garage or in a dresser, you will surely find rusty nails at home that you can’t do much with anymore. We recommend that you don’t throw them away. It would be a great shame, because you can still reuse them and take advantage of their miraculous power in the garden. Rusty nails can be very useful to you if you grow any plant at home or in the garden.

It may seem unbelievable, but items like rusty nails or banana peels can help the health of your plants. At the same time you reuse them, get the most out of them and it costs you nothing, because you would otherwise throw them away. So it’s a great way to make the most of what you have at home and help the greenery you grow. How to make full use of them?

Oxygen for plants

It may sound strange, but a rusty nail can become a savior for your plants. Did you know that our plants can benefit from iron rust? Yes! Iron supports their oxygen metabolism. If you grow plants at home (including houseplants), you can gain a lot from this. Especially in cases where the plant is a bit wilted and it seems to be missing something.

What do you need to do?

First of all, walk around your house, cellar, workshop or garage and find about six to seven rusty nails. Then fill a plastic bottle halfway with water and drop the nails inside. You will notice that the color of the water changes dramatically within a few minutes. Leave it like this for a few more minutes so the rust dissolves well in the water and then shake the bottle thoroughly.

Now take some pointed tool (e.g. a needle) and heat it over a flame. You need to puncture the plastic bottle cap in several places. Once you have it prepared like this, you can sprinkle your plants with this rusty water. Very soon you will see that the plants are much healthier, happier and fuller than ever, because by doing this you are providing them with iron that strengthens their health.
