Inspectors constantly check food in all retail chains in our country such as Kaufland. Inspectors verify whether the customer is actually sold what is written on the packaging and whether the product contains what it should. Foods are randomly tested and inspected.
Food inspection
This time inspectors uncovered a low-quality product in the Kaufland retail chain. Inspectors immediately ordered the withdrawal of this product from sale. Kaufland is now awaiting the imposition of a fine for this product and the next delivery of this goods will be properly inspected.
Cherry jam
Inspectors from the State Agricultural and Food Inspection found a defective jam on the shelves of Kaufland.
It was immediately ordered to withdraw this jam from sale at all branches, where it will subsequently be rechecked.
This is a cherry jam of the K-clasic brand in a 450 gram content with a best-before date on the package of 27. 10. 2019.
The cherry jam was produced in Germany.
The defect of this product lies in the fact that the packaging of this jam stated that it contains 50% cherries per 100 grams of the finished product.
However, when inspectors took this jam and carried out certain tests, they found that the jam contains only 34% cherries per 100 grams of this product.
Defectiveness
No harmful substance was found in the jam, but nevertheless this product is labeled defective. It is defective because the manufacturer informs the customer on the packaging about a certain fruit content that is not actually present inside the product. For this reason, inspectors ordered administrative proceedings and the imposition of a fine on Kaufland.
Measures
The inspection immediately ordered the withdrawal of this product from all points of sale in our territory. For the next three deliveries of this goods to stores, tests will be carried out to determine whether the amount of fruit and substances corresponds to the information on the packaging.
