This two-colored dessert is impossible not to love. It will remind you of treats from your childhood, decorate the festive table and enchant your family and loved ones. At the same time its preparation is fairly simple. For the two-colored cake you will need:
- 5 eggs
- 25 dkg sugar
- 1.5 dl lukewarm water
- 1.5 dl oil
- 26 dkg flour
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
For the cream prepare:
- 1 vanilla pudding
- 3 dl milk
- 20 dkg butter
- 20 dkg powdered sugar
How to proceed?
First beat the egg whites with the sugar into stiff peaks. Then gradually add the remaining ingredients – first the oil, then the water and finally the yolks. Finally add the sifted flour with the baking powder and beat with a hand whisk. Divide the finished batter in half, add unsweetened cocoa to one half. Bake both parts of the batter in ‘srnčí hřbet’ pans.
After baking, wait until the cake cools. Meanwhile you can prepare the cream. Cook the pudding in the milk. Beat the butter with the sugar until fluffy and add it to the still-warm pudding. Thoroughly mix all the ingredients and let it firm up in the refrigerator for about half an hour. The cream should have no lumps; it must be smooth. Slice the cooled cake into equally thick slices.
Alternate the two colors of the batter
Take a slice of the light cake, spread it with the cooled cream, top it with a slice of the dark cake, spread cream again and layer like this alternately until your ingredients run out. On top you can also add a chocolate glaze. Simply melt 20 dkg milk chocolate, 10 dkg butter, 4 tablespoons powdered sugar and 4 tablespoons milk in a water bath.
The chocolate glaze will not be firm but somewhat creamy. Spread it over the dessert, let it set in the refrigerator and then cut the whole dessert into diagonal slices so that it is clear it is made of several colors. Final tip: try different pudding flavors. Vanilla or chocolate is a classic that won’t disappoint, but for example with caramel pudding the dessert will gain a modern touch.
