At the Kaufland supermarket chain it was proven that the cabbage on the shelves was poisonous. After analysis it was found to contain a large amount of the pesticide Flonicamid. This is a chemical that protects vegetables from pests. Unfortunately, however, it is also dangerous to our health.
Poisonous cabbage
The poisonous cabbage was uncovered thanks to an inspection by inspectors at the Kaufland store in Teplice on Bohosudovská Street.
Laboratory analysis showed that the cabbage contains the pesticide flonicamid at a level of 0,1 mg/kg. The limit for this substance is permitted up to a maximum of 0,03 mg/kg. It is a substance used to kill harmful insects that would destroy the crop.
Chinese cabbage
Specifically, it was Chinese cabbage that was imported from Poland. The seller now faces allegations of violating regulations and will be fined.
Inspections will also be carried out in other stores of this chain where the Chinese cabbage may have ended up.
