Some people associate these phenomena with tonsil plugs, but in reality they are not the same plugs as those from tonsillitis, but so-called tonsilloliths, tonsil stones, or tonsil calculi.
What are tonsil stones
They are not hard, they are soft and above all cause unpleasant bad breath. It is chronic and every fourth person suffers from it. Tonsil stones form when tiny particles adhere in the crevices and pits of gland-like structures in the back of the throat. Calcification, the process that transforms tiny particles into hard white or yellow deposits, creates “stones” that can sometimes be uncomfortable.
And how to get rid of them?
It’s basically simple, you must follow the proper method of oral cleaning and occasionally run a toothbrush in the gaps where the stones form, because the body has a need to fill these gaps.
