Do you spend a large part of the week in the kitchen preparing tasty meals for yourself and your family? If so, you surely have dishes and foods you don’t like to prepare because they are time-consuming to make and you have to stand at them for a long time. Potatoes definitely count among such ingredients. Peeling the skin doesn’t take a few seconds, and if you make a larger amount, you’ll spend tens of minutes peeling.
Czechs love potatoes in every way and in households they are one of the basic ingredients for cooking. Save time when peeling thanks to a simple trick. This method doesn’t take more time; on the contrary, it will save you a lot of time. The potatoes will practically peel themselves and meanwhile you can prepare something else. You’ll hardly need anything for it. The following will suffice:
- potatoes,
- a knife,
- a pot,
- water.
Preparing raw potatoes
Take the raw potatoes and make a slight cut around their circumference with a knife. You don’t need to go deep. It’s enough if the skin is well cut. Put the potatoes into a pot large enough for the amount you are preparing and pour boiling water from a kettle over them. Then place the pot on the stove and cook them until they are as soft as you like. It also depends on what you are preparing. For mashed potatoes you can leave them in a bit longer.
You’re almost done
When they are cooked, drain the hot water and fill the pot with cold water. Wait until the potatoes cool. Cold potatoes can simply be taken and the two halves of the skin easily pulled off. It will come off by itself, and if they are cooked properly, you won’t need a knife or any other helper. Prepared this way you can dip them back into warm water if you want to reheat them. And you’re done!
