Practically every day we encounter sneezing and coughing and there is a risk that cold symptoms will appear soon. Sore throat, headache, cough… According to doctors, the cold starts as early as September or October and ends in March or April. In fact, you may fight it twice or even three times during this period.
Natural remedies are gentler and more effective than chemical ones
In this article you will learn folk remedies against colds. Natural products are gentler on your body than pharmacy medicines that contain large amounts of chemicals.
Treating a cold at home
Nature has arranged it so that we have a strong mechanism within us – the immune system, which protects us from all kinds of illnesses. If you have a cold, do not interfere with it so as not to unnecessarily disrupt the normal functioning of your immune system.
When the temperature rises, many of us immediately rush to lower it, which is a big mistake. This is because the body raises its temperature to destroy bacteria and viruses, so we must let the immune system work. Intervene only if the temperature rises to 38 degrees and continues to rise. Similarly, coughing is the body’s defensive reaction, trying to clear the airways of mucus. By coughing, the body expels microbes in the saliva. Therefore, a cough should be treated only if it persists for several days.
Hydration is essential
It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids, which help remove mucus and dilate blood vessels, improving circulation.
It’s better to take natural remedies into the body. For a cold, it is recommended to drink warm ginger tea with lemon and honey.
Hot tea contains tannins – substances that help bind and remove mucus. The enzymes in honey fight harmful bacteria. Lemon, rich in vitamin C, has antiseptic properties.
If you have raspberries at home (preferably fresh, but jam helps too), doctors recommend eating them when you have a cold. Raspberries contain salicylic acid, which reduces inflammation and prevents pathogenic microorganisms from entering the body.
