Cabbage is an ingredient that very often appears in our households. Right now you may even be preparing barrel cabbage. In that case be sure to remember this tip. It will come in handy when you prepare heads and remove the outer leaves. Definitely do not throw them away, they are incredibly beneficial!

In the past the cabbage leaf was called the medicine of the poor. In fact everyone should know the effects of the leaves of this cheap produce from our fields. Of course, we recommend using home-grown organic produce without sprays and chemicals. In the case of purchased cabbage, use leaves from the deeper layers of the produce.

A miracle for sore knees and joints

Cabbage leaves have been used for centuries to treat swelling, skin abrasions and rheumatic joint pains. They contain a large share of vitamins, phytonutrients, anthocyanins and glutamine, which are characterized by strong anti-inflammatory properties.

These properties make them a very valuable natural remedy for pain in the joints of the knees, ankles or fingers. They even provide relief for patients with chronic joint diseases such as rheumatism, arthritis or gout, for whom conventional treatment does not help. The best way to apply cabbage leaves is as compresses.

Procedure:

  • Separate the outer leaves of the cabbage.
  • Put water to boil in a pot; when it boils, put the cabbage leaves in so that they are submerged.
  • Then let them steam for about 2 minutes under a lid. The leaves must soften.
  • Then remove the leaves from the liquid.
  • First thoroughly oil the knee; I used olive oil.
  • Then place the cabbage leaves on the knee and wrap with gauze or cloth.
  • Then wrap with kitchen cling film.
  • Leave to act overnight (but at least 3 hours).
