Sometimes one unusual detail can give your garden the desired pizzazz!
Recently I visited my friend’s cottage, who is known to have golden hands and isn’t afraid to try new things. She loves plants and draws all her inspiration from nature. Her latest discovery is cement leaves!
Below is a guide on how you can make this garden decoration yourself.
What you’ll need
- large leaves
- metal mesh
- cement
- acrylic paint
- varnish
- rubber gloves
Procedure:
- First, find a large rhubarb leaf or any other large leaf (it has to be big).
- After the first layer, cover it with metal mesh sized slightly smaller than the finished piece.
- Then apply a second layer of cement.
- When everything is completely dry, turn it over and remove the plant leaf. You can use a soft brush or a razor blade for that.
It’s important that you don’t scratch the finished decoration!
This is what the finished leaf will look like! You can paint it with acrylic paint and cover it with a layer of varnish.
Take a look at a few more inspirations that will find a favorite spot in your garden! You don’t have to worry that the leaf will break.
Cement products are strong enough to support the weight of an adult. In addition, this decoration is resistant to low temperatures (down to – 25 degrees).
